Gaisce - The President’s Award

The Gaisce Award is a personal development programme that encourages students to find their passion, get active and make a difference in their community. It is a challenge from the President of Ireland to young people aged 15-25. The key challenge areas of Gaisce include; Personal Skill, Physical Recreation, Community Involvement and participating in an Adventure Journey.

This academic year, 46 of our Transition Year Students earned their Bronze Gaisce Award. 16 of our current 5th Year students also received their Silver Gaisce Award. All awardees embraced the four key challenge areas with enthusiasm.

Our Adventure Journey was held on the 17th, 18th and 19th of October 2023. It included a very enjoyable overnight stay in ‘Podumna’, Portumna, Co.Galway. Students made many memories as they hiked, cycled and got involved in all activities offered.

Awardees were presented with their Bronze and Silver Gaisce Certificate, Pin and Medal at our recent Awards Ceremony.

Going forward, awardees are encouraged to take on the challenge of successfully completing the Gold Gaisce Award – three of our current 6th Year students are working towards earning this prestigious award.

We wish all awardees well in their future endeavours.
