The newly established School Excellence Fund encourages collaboration in the use of digital technology, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths), leadership and creativity. It promises to be a very exciting initiative allowing schools and teachers the opportunity to work together and share good practices while focusing on developing the important skills that our students will need to thrive in the future.
#STEM in St Brendans Community School, Birr
The name of our learning cluster is Birr STEM Cluster. The five schools involved in this three year project are:
St. Brendans Boys School
Mercy Primary School
Oxmantown National School
Crinkhill National School
Gaelscoil na laochra
St Brendans is one of the first schools to create a “mini DreamSpace”/STEM room and we recently hosted the Microsoft Dreamspace team in Birr.
"We were delighted to work closely with the fantastic staff of St Brendans to organise not only 5 primary schools to have a 2-hour DreamSpace experience but also to arrange a well-received teacher training event on one of the evenings. We are inspired by the community in St Brendans CS, inspired by the staff, the students we engaged with and the gorgeous mini DreamSpace that has been created. If every school set up a space like St Brendans, we will reach our mission much sooner 😊."
